Kitchen Optimized GHB Synthesis
Here is a technique which has been optimized for kitchen chemistry.
Ingredients and Materials
gamma-butyrolactone 130ml 98% pure or better NaOH/Red Devil Lye 65gm (plus a couple
extra teaspoons)
distilled water 130ml
activated charcoal 1/4 cup
citric acid 1 or 2 tsp.
substitute: vinegar or HCl (muriatic acid) 1 or 2 tsp.
pH paper (chem. shop, pharmacy, specialty garden shops)
It must be able to measure {very basic, basic, neutral}
glass pyrex dish with lid (min. 2 quart capacity)
substitute: stainless steel (recommend buying the glass)
DONT USE: teflon or aluminum
1 liter bottle (eg coke bottle)
3 plastic or steel spoons (1 to stir, 1 for NaOH, 1 for acid) (the NaOH spoon must be dry)
Optional: distilled water ice cubes
Citric acid can be obtained as "sour salt" in international food stores, stores that cater to Jewish/Arabic cooking, and canning stores.
Hydrochloric acid is sometimes called "muriatic acid" in hardware stores. Low quality HCl can have other gook in it. Either be sure of the quality, or just use vinegar.
NaOH (sodium hydroxide) can be obtained/ordered from photography stores.
Procedure
Mix butyrolactone and NaOH in pyrex dish, and add water. Start breaking up the chunks and mixing the fluids. When it begins to react vigorously, cover it up and let proceed on its own.
Test pH, it should be slightly basic. Add a little NaOH/Lye at a time, stopping when the paper turns very basic. Heat to a simmer to ensure all the butyrolactone is reacted. As it cools, slowly add citric/HCl until the pH is neutral.
Let cool (you can speed this up by carefully adding the ice cubes. Don't let them get on the glass or it might break.) Pour into 1 liter bottle with a quarter cup of activated charcoal. (Wash the charcoal to remove the dust.) Add distilled water to make 1 liter. Let set (shaking now and then) so the charcoal can do its thing.
This works 100%, with no noticable solvant smell in the finished product.
Ingestion
Approx 1 gm GHB per 1 tsp. Start with a low dose and work up, some people get nausea on GHB. About 3 teaspoons for <120 lbs, 4 tsp. <140 lbs, 5 tsp <160 6 tsp < 190 lbs. Increase 1 tsp at a time.
The classic mistake is to take a dose, and, at 15-30 min. you think "wow, this is great but I think I want a little more." More is ingested and you find yourself waking up from having passed out. This can be especially dangerous since the first time you don't know if you will become nauseated. Passed out and puking is a bad, bad combination. (Just ask Jimi Hendrix.)
Always tell your friends if you are on GHB so that if you pass out they will know why and not freak out! This will save you embarassment and big hospital bills.
