Como bien sabreis, la
IDSA, o Interactive Digital Software Association continua cerrando
inofensivas páginas
de emulación, y nosotros, la gente a la que nos gustan los
juegos antiguos,
lo hemos intentado todo
para pararlos. Hemos intentado hablar con ellos, hemos intentado
implicar a los medios de comunicación.
Nada de esto parece funcionar, y la IDSA continua
cerrando página
tras página de inofensivas y anticuadas ROMs.
¿Qué podemos
hacer entonces? ¿Tenemos alguna oportunidad contra ellos? Puede
ser.
Ya que la IDSA sólo
está interesada en el dinero, se lo quitaremos. Estoy seguro de
que
la mayoría de vosotros
compra juegos modernos, pues si todos paramos de comprar
juegos , la IDSA se dará
cuenta de lo que se siente cuando se pierde dinero, y podriamos
negociar con ellos para que
nos dejen jugar en paz con los juegos antiguos.
La carta de debajo (está
en Inglés, evidentemente) anuncia el boicot a todas las compañias
afiliadas a la IDSA. Por favor,
copiala, pégala y pon tu nombre al final. Mándala a la
siguiente dirección

. Luego, por favor, si te importa algo
la emulación, no compres
ningún juego nuevo hasta que la IDSA acepte nuestras demandas.
Vale la pena que pares
de comprar juegos nuevos para preservar y jugar a los antiguos.
Dear Sir or Madam:
We, the retrogamer community,
are displeased with your effort to shut down the "emulation" scene on the
Internet. We have politely requested numerous
times that you stop shutting down websites that contain ROMs for
outdated games, and we have continued
to support your member companies by purchasing modern games
available for the Sony Playstation,
Nintendo 64, PC, and Macintosh. Apparently, we believed that we could stop
you from making such mindless decisions.
Our requests have gone unanswered, and you continue to shut down
site after site of harmless obsolete
game ROMs. Therefore we, the retrogamer community, are announcing a
boycott of all IDSA-affilated companies, until the terms stated in this
letter are met.
Please allow all ROMs for games 10
years old or older that were designed by your member companies to be
distributed over the Internet, as public
domain software. You have every right to retain the copyrights as long
as
you want, however you must allow these games
to be distributed freely. Computer software is designed to make
its money back in 6 months, so 10
years is plenty of time to gain profit on a video game. You may re-release
classic video game compilations for
those who are perhaps less computer-literate. You may also prosecute
people who try to sell these ROMs for
a fee. In addition, you can prosecute anyone or shut down any site which
has roms that are less than 10 years old.
We believe that these terms
are very reasonable. When you have met these terms, we will discontinue
the
boycott.
